Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device

For heroism involving conflict with an armed hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam: Specialist Four Sprowl distinguished himself by valorous actions on 11 June 1969 while serving as a Medical Aidman with Company A, 3rd Battalion, 60th Infantry on a reconnaissance in force mission in Kien Hoa Province. Specialist Sprowl maneuvered across open terrain while under hostile fire to aid casualties and personally engage the enemy. He was instrumental in evacuating the wounded, routing the enemy, and covering the repositioning of friendly troops. Specialist Four Sprowl's personal bravery and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the 9th Infantry Division and the United States Army.
