United States Army Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device
For heroic achievement on 18 October 2004 while serving as Squad Leader and Security Commander, 1st Platoon, 2nd Squad, 518th Gun Truck Company (Provisional). Securing the convoy and gaining fire superiority in the midst of an enemy ambush, he successfully directed a counterattack on the insurgents, positioning his squad to counter the ambush. Sergeant First Class Mike's extraordinary efforts and accomplishments are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the 518th Combat Gun Truck Company and the United States Army.
