Specialist Four Ralph H. Ware Class of 2014

Medal of Honor

United States Army

Bronze Star Medal with “V” Device

For heroism, in connection with military operations a hostile force: Specialist Four Ware distinguished himself by heroic actions on 23 January 1970, while serving with Company D, 65th Engineer Battalion in the Republic of Vietnam. Elements of Company D were involved in a Rome Plow operation in an area that was known to be heavily booby trapped with enemy mines and high explosives. With complete disregard for his own safety, Specialist Ware proceeded with the operation and completed the job in record time without an accident. His valorous actions contributed immeasurably to the success of the mission. Specialist Ware’s bravery and devotion to duty are in keeping with the finest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, the 25th Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
