For gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. Specialist Four Kader distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous action on 13 May 1969, while serving as a team leader with Company C, 2nd Battalion (Airmobile), 5th Cavalry while in a night defensive operation base in the Republic of Vietnam. When his unit came under intense rocket, mortar, and automatic weapons fire, Specialist Four Kader exposed himself to the enemy barrage as he moved forward to place an accurate suppressive fire on the hostile positions. Observing a defensive position knocked out, Specialist Four Kader immediately moved through the withering fire to secure the location. Reaching the position he began engaging the insurgents with automatic weapons fire and grenades until contact was broken several hours later. His gallant action is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service, and reflects great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
