Staff Sergeant Ronald W. Neldon Class of 2010

United States Air Force

Air Force Commendation Medal with "V" Device

Staff Sergeant Ronald W. Neldon distinguished himself by an act of courage while assigned to the 4404th Security Police Squadron, 4404th Support Group, 4404th Wing (Provisional), King Abdul-Aziz Air Base, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 25 June 1996 to 26 June 1996. Immediately following the terrorist bombing in Khobar Towers, Sergeant Neldon responded to the site of explosion which had devastated one half of a dormitory building, causing massive injuries. Finding two airmen with critical leg injuries, including one with an amputated foot, Sergeant Neldon administered emergency medical care and stabilized them until they were transported to the medical staging area. After establishing a physical barrier with the Saudi Arabian Police, he conducted a sweep of the Security Police barracks that was also badly damaged by the blast. By his prompt action and humanitarian regard for his fellowman, Sergeant Neldon has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
