While reconnoitering enemy territory, Sergeant Christoff and his squad encountered direct enemy small-arms fire. Ordering his men to stay under cover, Sergeant Christoff crawled forward through this heavy fire and destroyed the enemy emplacements with grenades. Residence at enlistment: Toledo, Ohio.
