For heroism in connection with military operations against a hostile force: Private First Class Stewart distinguished himself by heroic actions on 4 June 1970, while serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry in the Republic of Cambodia. On the date cited above, Private Stewart was subjected to intense fire from an enemy force. During the course of the action Private Stewart was seriously wounded. His valorous actions contributed immeasurably to the success of the mission. The bravery and devotion to duty exhibited by Private Stewart are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, the 25th Infantry Division and the United States Army.
