Technical Sergeant Ralph J. Reichley, Infantry, 376th Infantry Regiment, United States Army, for gallantry in action in Germany from 24 February 1945 to 28 February 1945. During operations against strongly defended enemy pillboxes, Sergeant Reichley repeatedly exposed himself to heavy fire to lead assault troops against these fortifications. On one occasion his squad captured 73 Germans. Severely wounded by enemy machine gun fire, he refused to be evacuated until his objective was taken. The supreme courage this intrepid soldier displayed, and his determination and loyal devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the service.
