					Distinguished Flying Cross

United States Army

Bronze Star with "V" Device
Citation

For heroism in connection with ground operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam: Specialist Prieser distinguished himself on 8 September 1968 while serving as an advisor to the beleaguered Ha Thanh Special Forces Camp, Republic of Vietnam. Specialist Prieser was part of a reinforcing element with the mission of locating and destroying suspected enemy positions. He and an element of Camp Strike Force soldiers began a sweep of the region most strategic to the large North Vietnamese Army force. Shortly after the patrol had begun, contact was made with an enemy reinforced platoon. During the ensuing fire fight, Specialist Prieser fell fatally wounded. Specialist Prieser’s personal heroism and selfless devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the special forces and the United States Army.
