BRONZE STAR MEDAL 3RD OAK LEAF CLUSTER WITH "V" DEVICE
Citation
For heroic conduct in action on 18 June 1944 in France. Technician 4th Grade Patrick, Medical Technician, responded promptly to a call for medical aid when the battalion position came under a heavy artillery barrage. A trailer full of 81mm mortar ammunition was hit and started burning while Technician 4th Grade Patrick was dressing one of the wounded men. Another soldier was hit and seriously wounded by the same shell that hit the trailer. With complete disregard for his own personal safety, Technician 4th Grade Patrick rushed over and dragged the wounded man from under the burning trailer. His actions saved this wounded soldier's life and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the medical corps.
