Army Commendation Medal w/"V" Device

For exceptionally valorous action against an armed enemy force while acting as an Assault Section Leader during combat operations in Sadr City, Iraq on 30 August 2008. While on patrol on that date, Sergeant Porter led his section on a search mission for a High Value Individual who was reported hiding in the area of the patrol. Upon locating the individual, Sergeant Porter and his section successfully captured the man while engaging in hand to hand combat with the individual and his comrades. The high value individual eventually led the group to another individual who was responsible for actions against friendly forces. Sergeant Porter's dedication, tactical and technical competence and unparalleled professionalism contributed immeasurably to the successful completion of the mission and the success of the battalion. His performance reflects great credit upon himself, the Multi-National Division Baghdad and the United States Army.
