Lieutenant Colonel Louis E. Gale Class of 2013

Silver Star Medal

United States Air Force

Silver Star Medal

Lieutenant Colonel Louis E. Gale distinguished himself by gallantry in connection with operations against an opposing armed force as a C130-E Aircraft Commander near A. Luoi, A Shau Valley, Republic of Vietnam on 27 April 1968. On that date, Colonel Gale flew three combat support sorties against an armed hostile force to deliver high priority sorties to friendly forces. With great determination and courage, he braved intense hostile fire and adverse weather to make emergency in-flight repairs to his aircraft and complete this vital mission. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Colonel Gale has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
