Captain Phillip E. Wolford Class of 2012

Silver Star Medal

United States Army

Silver Star Medal

For gallantry in action while serving as the commander of Company A, 4th Battalion, 64th Armor in combat operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom. CPT Wolford's company led most task force attacks and he personally killed or repulsed numerous Republican and Special Republican Guard soldiers and combat vehicles using his 9 MM and hand grenade munitions with lethal precision. His heroism enabled the task force to secure key intersections, bridges and Presidential Palaces in breathtaking speed. His actions reflect great credit upon himself, the "Spartan" Brigade Combat Team, the 3rd Infantry Division (M), The United States Army V Corps and the United States Army.
