Distinguished Flying Cross

For heroism and extraordinary achievement in aerial flight as a pilot of a Plane in Composite Squadron NINETY SEVEN, attached to the U. S. S. SHIPLEY BAY, during action against enemy Japanese forces in the vicinity of Nansei Shoto from April 9 to May 18, 1945. Completing his twentieth combat mission during this period, Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Tribbie contributed to the success of attacks against enemy grounded and airborne aircraft, military installations, harbor areas and shipping. His gallant devotion to duty was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
