Corporal Joseph Gaborsky, Infantry, United States Army, Company B, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, is cited for heroism in action against an armed enemy on 3 October 1951, near Hyonjo, Korea. As Company B was withdrawing after an attack on enemy positions had failed, there was great danger that the friendly force would suffer heavy casualties. Corporal Gaborsky, observing this critical situation , moved his machine gun to an exposed position and directed a devastating volume of fire at the foe, inflicting severe casualties on them and allowing friendly troops to withdraw with a minimum of casualties. Corporal Gaborsky's courage amd disregard for his personal safety served as an inspiration to his fellow soldiers. His heroism reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
