Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device

United States Army

Bronze Star Medal with “V” Device
Citation

For heroism in connection with military operations against a hostile force: Private First Class Everett distinguished himself by heroic actions on 25 March 1968, while serving with the Scout Platoon of Headquarters Company 4th Battalion, 23d Infantry on a road clearing operation in the Republic of Vietnam. When his unit’s position was attacked by an estimated battalion of Viet Cong, Private Everett provided cover fire for himself and the men around him. When his track was hit by an enemy rocket, he provided fire cover while leading his crew to another armored personnel carrier. He continued his actions until he was wounded and had to be evacuated. Private Everett’s personal bravery, aggressiveness and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, the 25th Infantry Division and the United States Army
