Sergeant Virgil F. Anderson Class of 2005

					Distinguished Flying Cross

United States Army

Bronze Star with "V" Device
Citation

For heroic service in connection with military operations against the enemy near ***, *** on 10 April 1945. Sergeant Anderson acting as an artillery Forward Observer, showed exceptional courage and resourcefulness while directing artillery fire on an enemy Observation Post. With utter disregard for his own safety, he took the radio and worked his way forward under enemy fire to a point where observation could be obtained. From this location which was still being shelled, he directed the fire of his own battalion and succeeded in destroying the enemy position. Sergeant Anderson’s courageous conduct on this occasion reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
