
The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal (Silver Star in lieu of the Sixth Award) to Master Chief Special Warfare Operator (Sea, Air, Land) Michael J. Warden, United States Navy, for service as set forth in the following:
For heroic achievement in connection with combat operations against the enemy as Senior Enlisted Advisor for a Joint Task Force in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from October 2011 to March 2012.
MCPO Warden’s battlefield leadership was noted during his constant circulation between several operating bases and tactical supervision during combat operations. He was responsible for the execution of multiple operations that resulted in the elimination or detention of countless enemy insurgents.
On 19 January 2012, during a direct-action raid targeting a suicide cell intent on attacking coalition forces, MCPO Warden’s assault force came under enemy fire. His tactical expertise contributed to the elimination of the enemy, thus protecting American lives.
By his extraordinary guidance, zealous initiative and total dedication to duty, MCPO Michael J. Warden reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

As earlier noted, Michael Warden is the recipient of a total of six Bronze Star awards for valor. He was born in Columbus, Ohio and entered the service from Columbus, Ohio.
