For exceptionally valorous actions during operation Enduring Freedom VII while assigned as a machine gun team leader Company Commander in Battle Company, 2d Battalion (Airborne), 503d Infantry.

Specialist Gangwer’s unwavering courage, aggressiveness and leadership while under fire were decisive to his company defeating an enemy attack on 25 October 2007. His actions reflect great credit upon him, Combined Joint Task Force – 101, and the United States Central Command.

Tyler Gangwer is also the recipient of an Army Commendation Medal with “V” device. He achieved the rank of Sergeant upon separation of active duty. Mr. Gangwer’s home of record was Cincinnati, Ohio when enlisting in the Army.
