Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 2, Detachment 4. For: Valor while conducting explosive ordnance disposal operations during operation Iraqi Freedom on July 14 & 15, 2007. Petty Officer Christenson crossed a 180-meter canal using a zodiac boat searching for signs of improvised explosive devices on a possibly booby-trapped bridge. He and his team came under small arms fire when an improvised explosive device exploded. By crossing the canal, Petty Officer Christenson and his team were able to disrupt the enemy’s defensive plan. His actions are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon him, combined joint task force Troy, and the United States Navy.
