1st Lt. John C. Barber

First Lieutenant John C. Barber distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an AC-119K Navigator in Southwest Asia on 13 February 1972. On that date, Lieutenant Barber and his crew were directed to attack a heavily defended supply route. Despite intense antiaircraft fire and unexpected aircraft maneuvers, Lieutenant Barber exhibited superior fire and unexpected aircraft maneuvers, Lieutenant Barber exhibited superior airmanship and courage in providing continuous firepower, resulting in the damage and destruction of several hostile supply vehicles. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Barber reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
