Private First Class Frank J. Kovacs, Parachute Infantry, while serving with the Army of the United States, distinguished himself by meritorious service in action.
From 6 June to 20 December 1944 he performed his duties in an outstanding manner. During the Normandy Campaign, while operating his machine gun, he displayed great skill and aggressiveness and accounted for several enemy. In the invasion of Holland, although wounded during the early phases of the operation, he killed several enemy soldiers. At Bastogne, Belgium, he maintained an exposed position in order to bring effective fire on attacking enemy forces; although wounded in this action, he killed and wounded many of the enemy before he was evacuated. His actions were in accordance with the highest standards of the military service. Entered military service from Ohio.
