For heroic achievement in connection with combat operations against the enemy while serving as a Corpsman, 3rd Squad, 2nd Platoon, Company C, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, Regimental Combat Team 6, 1st Marine Division (Forward), I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), on 13 June 2012 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. While returning from a night patrol, 3rd Squad was struck by two Improvised Explosive Devices. The first strike resulted in a double amputee casualty which Hospitalman Crowley promptly stabilized. The second explosion occurred as Marines swept a path to the original casualty, resulting in three additional urgent casualties. Hospitalman Crowley was in close proximity to the second device and suffered fragmentation wounds to his face and a ruptured eardrum. Hospitalman Crowley quickly oriented himself to the rapidly degrading situation and skillfully conducted triage of the new casualties. He maintained complete composure end expeditiously treated the additional double amputee and immediately after, treated the Marine squad leader who had severe fragmentation wounds to his hands, body and face. Hospitalman Crowley continued to disregard his own injuries then helped move the casualties to a collection point, and again provided detailed, life-saving updates on the patients’ status until the medical emergency evacuation helicopter arrived. His instant decisive actions were instrumental in saving the lives of three critically wounded Marines. By his extraordinary guidance, zealous initiative and total dedication to duty, Hospitalman Crowley reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service
