For heroism in connection with military operations against a hostile force:
Private First Class Knight distinguished himself by heroic actions on 7 December 1969, while serving with Company D, 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry in the Republic of Vietnam. While on a reconnaissance operation, elements of Company D came in contact with a large enemy force. With complete disregard for his own safety, Private Knight began placing suppressive fire on the aggressors. His valorous actions contributed immeasurably to the success of the mission. The bravery and devotion to duty exhibited by Private Knight are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, the 25th Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
Kent S. Knight achieved the rank of Sergeant upon separation from active duty.
He was born, entered the service and resided in Sidney, Ohio prior to his passing in 2020.
