For heroism in action while serving as a team leader on a combat patrol in eastern Baghdad, Iraq. While insurgent automatic fire engaged his patrol, he fearlessly led from the front, immediately suppressing the enemy and directing his soldiers to return fire. In spite of rounds impacting dangerously close to his position, he further risked his safety in order to ensure the safety of his men. His courageous efforts effectively disrupted the enemy ambush without taking friendly casualties. His courage and inspiring example under fire reflect great credit upon himself, the Spartan Brigade Combat Team, the Third Infantry Division and the United States Army.
